USA registered mail

I recently had a bad experience with international registered mail. I found out it costs alot, it is not sure to reach it's destination, it cannot be traced after it leaves the US which in my case is eight days after being mailed,.and the waiting time for and investigstion is 60 days.
It is more than five weeks since I used the service and the intended recipient is still waiting for the document.
I think this outrageous, I would like to know if anyone out there have had a similar experience and what was the outcome.
