The Board of County Commissioners created a new Task Force on the Performing and Visual Arts in Miami-Dade County to provide suggestions to help sustain the cultural community.

Monday, September 14, 2009: Volunteers for New Library in Public Housing Complex, Liberty City
In July Hands On Miami volunteers helped create a library in a public housing complex in Liberty City. The American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery Program is having trouble staying on course in Dade County. This vital patient service program is in need of volunteers who are willing to drive cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments.
Currently, in the Miami-Dade area, there are only 51 dedicated volunteers available to drive patients. Dozens more are needed to ensure that all patients are getting the care that they desperately need to get back on the “Road to Recovery.”
